Heart & Soul

Today’s inspiration is a departure from what you normally see from me. I have always been drawn to art in all of its forms. Not just pretty images, but the kind that make you stop and really feel something — they have been grabbing me lately. So, for any of you seeing this, I hope it makes you feel something wonderful, as this ballerina did for me.

Bridal Luncheon Inspiration

As the trend for unique ways of announcing every milestone in life gains momentum, it only stands to reason that asking your best gals to stand by your side is no exception.

Inspired by a photo of striped flats and pink tulips, I love this board and the ideas of hosting a luncheon to ask your bridesmaids if they’ll be in your party. This springy palette and bold pattern says stylish girl time to me.

How adorable are those ask gift bags?! I’d tote that beauty all over town and to the wedding the morning of. As you know, I’m a big fan of gift giving and adding a personal touch to each ask bag makes your girls feel that much more important to you.

For some, you’ve had your bridal party chosen since you were six and it’s never changed. For others, this is a very big decision, so why not treat it as such and celebrate?! Maybe even make it a surprise at your favorite restaurant after a day of shopping. These are women who helped shape who you are and have stood by your side for years. Why not take an afternoon to shower them and show them how important they are to you? After all, the next party or two are on them!

Would you consider throwing a small fete to ask your besties to join you at the altar? Cheers lovelies!

Southern Orchid

The warm Spring wind has not graced us with her presence yet in the Midwest, but our glimpses into sunny days and wonderful afternoon walks have me daydreaming, as always. This weekend, I was desperate for bright colors and warm memories. So, I figured it was my turn to use this year’s Pantone Color of the Year- Radiant Orchid.

How much more cheery and bright can it get? I have to admit, I was not a huge fan of this color choice – I’m still partial to that amazing Emerald from last year. Old habits and loves die hard darlings. However, after giving it a chance and doing a little brainstorming on elegant touches without being over the top, its beauty has grown on me!

This amazing door was my inspiration photo this time and it reminds me so much of the beach houses and Rainbow Row in Charleston, but with an orchid twist. When I think warm and relaxing elegance, summers at my grandparents’ is where my mind wanders, so the Palmetto lined ceremony aisle and beachy feeling brings that to life for me.

Have any of you considered using the Color of the Year in your wedding colors? If so, is it a key player or accent?

Olympic Metals

I’m not sure if it’s due to the Winter Olympics or just an emerging love for all things shiny, but I’m really loving mixed metallics as a wedding palette. Gold, silver, bronze and rose gold are such beautiful colors and are all neutrals. Why not mix them? Neutrals beg to be combined into absolutely elegant affairs.

Keeping the flowers and other accessories in the lighter family allows those metallics to pop and bring an element of glamour to everything. I absolutely love this trend for this year. What do you think darlings?
